You can take them off yourself, or better still, have someone else in your family do it for you since they're on your arm. Be sure they wash their hands with soap and water first. Then have them grasp both ends and pull them gently towards the center. If they don't come off easily, leave them alone, and let them fall off by themselves. I'm surprised they haven't already.

RE:
Can I remove steri-strips?
I had surgery on May 26th to have a plate and 10 screws inserted because of a broken humerus. I had staples to close the incision and they were removed on June 8th. I then got steri-stripes to cover the incision until it was fully healed. The ends of the stripes are starting to peel off and...

I work in a surgoen's office and I apply steri-strips after removing sutures. I tell people if the edges start to peel, to just trim them with small scissors. If they've been on for at least 5 days, it probably won't hurt to remove them though. I'm sure you have internal sutures.

I wouldnt...I had knee surgery and the doctor put steri-strips over the stitches too. I came in for my appt after 5 days and the nurse told me to take them off. I started, the doctor came in and got mad at me. I would wait until they fall off themselves, which is what he told me. Your incisions aren't "typical" cuts...they go down to the bone and muscle and you need to protect yourself as long as possible. I wasnt allowed to swim for about three months.

The doc told me to let them fall, I guess they are designed to fall of when it is healed if you take it off early you might tear your scab. Ask you doctor if your not sure.
