There is only one ozone layer above the earth. It is in the stratosphere from 5 to 30 miles above the surface. It is caused by ultraviolet light from the sun striking oxygen molecules (O2) which split then recombine to create ozone (O3).

Everything the above answerer above me said is correct but the status with our ozone layer is not in good shape due to the emissions of CO2, Aerosol, Methane, nitrous oxide, bad freon etc.
