The Catechism of the Catholic Church, approved by Pope John Paul II (http://www.nccbuscc.org/catechism/text/laetamurmagnopere.htm ), states:
Paragraph 423:
We believe and confess that Jesus of Nazareth, born a Jew of a daughter of Israel at Bethlehem at the time of King Herod the Great and the emperor Caesar Augustus, a carpenter by trade, who died crucified in Jerusalem under the procurator Pontius Pilate during the reign of the emperor Tiberius, is the eternal Son of God made man.

Paragraph 521:
His (Jesus') religious life was that of a Jew obedient to the law of God, a life in the community.

And "Notes on the correct way to present the Jews and Judaism in preaching and catechesis in the Roman Catholic Church" from the Pope John Paul II's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews:
Jesus was and always remained a Jew, his ministry was deliberately limited "to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Mt 15:24).

The Bible (the e book of Acts) does not point out a pope interior the earliest years of the Christian church. St. Peter is assumed to have died a martyr's loss of life in Rome approximately sixty 5 advert, however the papacy grew to become into no longer till years later. Lists of the popes checklist St. Peter because of the fact the 1st pope.

Jesus knew that the Jewish people would reject him as their Messiah and he demonstrated to the Gentiles that he was the Son of God - Jesus celebrated Passover and sacrificed his life for the sins of mankind, Jews included.
BTW, the other poster gives great answers from the Cathecism.

many popes have done that, as they rightly should, as to orthodox jews, they do not believe that jesus was the messiah, although they too readily admit that he was a jew, although a slightly meshogene one
