It's still acceptable, in fact some women actually like it. In my case I like some but not someone who is furry, lol. My guy has a little bit and I love it. :)

As a woman I say NO DON'T! I find chest hair very sexy and I would be very disappointed if all the guys started shaving. I see a LOT of chest hair out and about, because I like it so much, I always have a peek when guys wear shirts with open collars, and I see chest hair there fairly often. I know there are some girls who are all fussy about any type of hair, but many girls are like me - they like chest hair. It is manly! And as you've said, it is so much effort to remove it.
Do you have a partner currently? If you end up in a serious relationship with one of those prissy girls who insists on no hair, then you can figure out how to remove it and do it for her. But until then I suggest being yourself.
Here are some cute actors who still have chest hair, and you can look up their pictures to see (they've been shirtless in movies and paparazzi pics): Jake Gyllenhaal, Jude Law, Clive Owen, Kevin Costner, Matthew Macfadyen, Steve Carell, some others I forget, OK you probably won't want to look them up if you're straight, but get the idea, they are all viewed as sex symbols by women so clearly most women aren't all that fussed.

Shave it if you want to; but be prepared for annoying stubble when it starts growing back. Shaving your chest hair will NOT make it grow back thicker. The thickness of body hair is a function of a person's individual genetics.

If you are not all that hairy, leave it alone. Nothing is wrong with a little chest hair, come on you're a guy it's expected.
It may just be a fad for now, then in a couple years chest hair is the 'in' thing. I say be proud of your manliness and show a little extra umpph!

One of the differences between being a male, as opposed to being a female, is the increased body hair that is typical of masculinity.
I would not advise you to shave or wax it. Be who you were born to be.

Chest Hair. It even sounds manly, right? So why ask the question.
Those metrosexuals in the magazines are not George Kluney.

it doesn't grow back thicker if you shave it.
My wife likes my chest smooth and bare. you just have to keep it up. I shave every day in the shower. It's not that big of a deal, it's part of my everyday routine now.
