I was thinking of adding a video card and perhaps another harddrive if I have the room and I'm worried that this will really tax the 305W stock power supply. Do you know if I can just swap out the power supply if I need too? How do I know if I can and what will fit? Thanks for the help!

The only Dell system that has an "upgradeable" power supply from off the shelf parts, is their XPS system. All other Dells use proprietary power supplies. There are other options, such as purchasing an adapter that will allow you to use a non Dell power supply in your system. Also, PC Power and Cooling manufactures replacement power supplies for Dell owners that want more power.

Sorry but all of these people are wrong with the exception of the one who said it's possible.

You can change out the power supply except you might need to do a little cutting.

I can't guarantee this but usually Dells have a power supply without an on/off switch on the back. they put a little panel or piece of metal in the way on the back of the case so that if you install a power supply with a switch it will put the switch in the off position when you install it.

Either find a power supply with no switch or cut that panel out with a dremmel.

Sorry, but Dell has the bad habit of using odd sized/shaped power supplies with proprietary connections, etc. So you is usually not possible to replace the supply in a Dell with an off the shelf unit.

its going to be a little difficult. most dells have specific power supplies for specific cases. you might need to do some case mods or jimmy-rig it up in the case.
