The key to getting rid of black heads is to clear away old skin cells to unblock pores & get rid of excess oil. Products w/ benzoyl peroxide will help to kill germs and reduce oiliness.
Mechanical exfoliation is good for clearing pores and steam facials will help open pores & loosen black heads.

Here are some product recommendations, home remedies & facial how tos:
1) Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask - has benzoyl peroxide & clay. I prefer to use it as a mask. Neutrogena's product line w/ salicylic acid is good too.

2) Oxy 10 Face wash

3) Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads - has exfoliating side that will help remove dead skin cells

Other remedies:
Add a bit of water to 2-3 tblsp. of baking soda to make a paste & use it as face scrub. Use gentle pressure.

Mixture for exfoliating face wash: 6 crushed uncoated aspirins, mixed with the liquid facial cleanser at hand (I usually use either cetaphil or tersaseptic), and 1-2 drops of tea tree oil.

You can crush up 6 plain, uncoated aspirin tablets and mix it w/ a little water to make mask. Alternatives: mix half a teaspoon of crushed uncoated aspirin tablets with Queen Helene Mint Julep mask or aloe vera gel to use as a mask.

Use about 6 uncoated tablets, witch hazel, tee trea oil, and aloe to make a thin paste.

For toner:
8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four uncoated aspirin
or
mix of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

Steam facials will help too. Here's how to DIY: http://www.ehow.com/how_2564_give-yourself-facial.html

Good clay masks to use during a facial:
1) Beauty w/o Cruelty clay mask
2) plain Milk of Magnesia - apply thin layer, let dry for 10-15 min.s before rinsing off
3) Origins charcoal mask

I have black heads around my lip and the only thing that works for me is "popping" them.
Wash your face with warm water AND your hands then put your nails on both sides of the black head push down and up.
This will only work on a some, sometimes they just aren't ready to come out yet.

Supposively using warm water then a deep cleaner will get them out but it hasn't worked for me.

Wash your face three or four times a day with soap and water. That'll do it. Been there done that.
