think about 2 stores...in the same area...lets put best buy and circuit city...best buy have 2 bilingual employees out of 4 ....and circuit city NONE...lets say this area is spanish and english customers.

U think this bilingual employees help drive a big income to companies?

Lets look at it this way: if a salesman, working on commission, speaks multiple languages, the salesman can gain a larger number of commissions by speaking the languages of his potential customers. Those customers who know the salesman speak their language will encourage their non-English speaking friends and neighbors to buy from that salesman.

Now I am not sure if either of the stores you mentioned have people working on commission or not, but the salespeople will notice that the multilingual associates are getting more commissions. and might try to broaden their vocabulary.

If Store B is falling behind on the sales volume compared to Store A, the general manager had better fix the problem by any means possible. If that means paying somebody who can speak many languages twice the salary of somebody that only speaks one language, then so be it.
