And I'm sure there is something not right with it. My appointment to see the consultant has now been pushed back three times and I'm not going to be seeing him for another month. I tried to explain that I thought there was a problem but they said to go to my GP if I was worried. My GP is not a knee specialist, he doesn't know the ins and outs of the specific procedure I have had and has told me this, what should I do now?

The appoitment is a month from now, which will be two months following the Op, when I had it done I was told that the consultant would want to see me within the first month following the operation.
It was a lateral release if that means anything to anyone, and this is my fourth operation on my knee so do realise how long they can take to heal.

that does not sound right. I had knee surgery 3 weeks ago and i had a f/u appt. in 10 days and i go to physical therapy 3 times a week. i have another dr appt already scheduled for next week and also wear a brace whenever i am up. my knee doesn't feel like it did before the injury but we ( you and i) and definitely still in the healing stages of the surgery.

My husband also had knee surgery about a month ago. He had a torn minisucus and they said they cleaned out some of the arthritis and scraped the patella. He has gone to 4 weeks of PT and they were worried he was not healing right and made an appointment back at the surgeon's office. He has only seen a PA since the surgery. they keep telling them the pain is the arthritis but it is still swollen and can barely walk. They drained fluid off the knee and it felt a little better for a few days. I just want them to do another MRI to make sure there is nothing wrong there. He has an appointment tomorrow. I plan on being there. Now his right knee is hurting due to over compensating on that side while limping. The surgery was done on a workman's comp claim and now nobody else will even look at it. We are at a loss at what to do.

Yes, it sounds like something is wrong here. The doctor and his office personnel didn't sound like they know what they were doing. Usually, the doctor office is suppose to call you as soon as possible after the operation. To see how you are doing. If you didn't have it done yet, and try to make an appointment then I can see if there is a long wait. I think if it border you really bad then you need to go to emergency room. If you can hold up, maybe call for some help like from your insurance agency. They might give you a better direction. Sorry to heard what had happen to you.

You don't say what the operation was for. Your consultation is a month or so;pretty quick even though it has been "put back".
Your GP will have had a letter from your hospital consultant and can discuss things with you.
Four weeks is early days, see your GP and talk things over.
Although he is not a specialist you can talk to him and I'm sure he will be able to reassure you.

all depending on what kind of knee surgery you had, but i do know it takes the knee a long time to heal. really you need to speak with the surgeon, call the office and demand a sooner appointment . good luck

^ hey lady you should ask your own question instead of stealing hers. some people are just too high maintenance. tell the consultant your attorney will be contacting them. that usually gets things rolling.

Just make sure that you keep your knee brace on until you get a chance to see this knee specialist.
