i often read that it doent matter which ron you put in your car.

But it can depending on your car.

If you have a turbo or performance you need a higher ron.It will run better and safer for your engine.
IE i have a 180sx if i put low ron in it would jump and lose performance.
My imports cars have to run on super as any lower would run the risk of damage to my engine as in Japan there ron is higher.
So you may not notice the difference on a everyday run around but performance wise car wise needs super or will wear and damage the engine eventually. It would out for me and few pounds /dollars on a full tank, cheaper than a new engine.
Enviroment wise depends on what your car needs to run like me putting low ron in my sx but me jumping and coughing clouds of black smoke was helping the enviroment

So check with the maker or check on a forum which is for your car.

Well all gas is bad for the environment but they still make gas fueled cars because gasoline makes billions of dollars a year in sales but it is not a stupid question really I used to put the best and most expensive gas in my car super 93 and I have a used car so I was told that it made no sense since it is used on the other hand if you have a new car and especially if it is turbo you should put in 93 the difference between the 3 gases is that one is cleaner then the other and is more clean gas for your car but if your car is used just save the extra few bucks and get the less expensive one

Most vehicles have a sticker near the gas cap that reads "Regular Unleaded" or "premium Unleaded Only", the difference in the types of gas is the additives they use to prevent pre-detonation in engines, that is the octane rating (87, 89, 93 ect..ect...) Usually high performance engines with superchargers, turbo's or compression ratio's higher than 9.5:1 need higher octane gas to reduce pre-detonation (knocking/pinging sound) which can severely damage an engine and it's components. Most cars run fine on regular unleaded (87 octane) gasoline because they do not have high performance engines.

IF you have a owner's manual, it will tell you, or call a dealership that sells your car and ask them.
The difference in types is the octane, using a higher octane than needed wont hurt your car, you'll just be paying too much. It could possibly effect the performance of the car, but I don't really have any experience in that department.
Keep on truck'in

Usually 87 octane is the standard to use.
Higher performance vehicles usually require premium gasoline to get the best performance from the engine.
Some automakers will actually void your warranty if you use a low grade fuel when it clearly states to use premium.
If you own one of these high performance vehicles that require premium grade fuel, even if it's out of warranty, I would recommend sticking with the premium fuel to keep the engine running at it's best. This may also make the engine last alot longer, and save on future costly repairs.

Be sure to check your manual, or stop by the dealer. They will let you know what fuel you should be using.

Check the car's manual to see what grade of gas the manufacturer recommends. All gas is pretty much the same, but there are additives in brand name more expensive gas - like stuff to keep the engine clean. But the base gas product is exactly the same across manufacturers.

Your owners manual will tell you the required octane rating.

The ratings will tell you the antiknock qualities of the fuel. The higher the rating the more even the gas will burn. good luck.

if your car has a sticker that says 'premium only' use it. other than that, it don't make a damn bit of difference. you will get no better performance with 91 than you do 87, you just pay more.

Follow the owner's manual. If you don't have one I would use 87 octane gasoline.
