I think it depends on the kind of criticism. "Your nose could use a little work" and "I don't think you tightened up the lug nuts on that tire good enough"...u know?

No, if used correctly, it's a tool to make something better. Also, there's a big difference between constuctive criticism & plain criticism. Constructive criticism is something like, "You're manners could be a little better, try doing it like this...blah blah blah." On the other hand, criticism is like "You're doing it all wrong! You can't even handle holding you're spoon correctly & HEY! keep your elbows OFF the table."
Constructive criticism tells you what you're doing wrong, while helping you out in a polite way. Criticism is harsh and makes you feel useless. Although, all this really depends on how its said & how the other person decides to take it.
Make sense? :]

No, because it's supposed to be constructive, meaning it's suppose to offer something you can build upon. It's not meant to be used to tear down, so if it's mean then it isn't constructive criticism. It would then just be plain old criticism at best.

BTW Did you know that you look a lot like Susan Dey?

its not supposed to be but people use it as a shield

"take this as constructive criticism but __(insert something along the lines of "your doing it all wrong" here.)"

its kidna like "no offense" or "dont take this the wrong way" lol nice ways of insulting people.

it depends on the person who's giving it. but most of the time it is just an excuse to be mean. if its a parent or a loved one who's giving it, they just want you to be the best that you can be. but when its other people, sometimes they just want you to know that they are and always will be above you.

No, it may seem like that, though. once i wrote a song that i was especially proud of and some people told me it wasn't worth s*hit (they said it in a nicer way tho) and i felt terrible for a while but i realized that they were only trying to help me do my best and looking back on that song...they were right! lol

It's meant to be, but unfortunately people often confuse it with trashing someone.
