I don't believe in the practice of polygamy. I also don't believe in promiscuity, sleeping with multiple women, fathering children with multiple women to whom you are not married. It's interesting though that society is more accepting of a man who fathers children with several women (Bobby Cutts) to whom he is not married, and yet villifies men who actually marry the women they are sleeping with. Makes you think.

Wow! Now that is a good question. Many people relate poligamy to Mormonism. However Mormons do not practice poligamy and any one who does would be excomunicated from the church. Poligamy actually started in old testament times. That would probably be your best source on the subject. Anyone you talk to now would probably have a pretty tainted view for either negative or positive about it. Good luck!

Polygamy is when a man (usually) takes more than one wife.

He financially takes care of the wives and all the children born from the marriages.

The wives and children live as though they are one family....and it's understood that the husband will be intimate with each wife.

It's also against the law.

From the little i understand its a sort of free love where you get as many wifes as you desire. Im not sure if the wives can go ahead and get multiple husbands though?

Let's be honest ... it's about fun. Joseph Smith knew that he wanted to have lots of fun with lots of women. So he codified polygamy into his religion (although Mormonism is hardly the first religion to practice polygamy). I mean, if you're surrounded by a bunch of religious women who believe any stupid thing you say then you're going to take advantage of it, right?
