I just purchased a new battery for my 2001 Yamaha R6 and when I installed the battery it fired up right away. Then the next day it seemed to struggle when strating. I have the choke down so that it will start correctly due to a cold engine. The ignition is in the lock position and the starter button is in the off position when it's off. I don't see anything else that would cause the battery to drain in anyway.

Have the alternator checked for proper charging amperage/voltage or a faulty diode that could cause a drain on the battery even with the ignition off.

Did you buy a quality battery like Yuasa, or a piece of crap from Walmart trying to save a couple of bucks?
Was the battery charged as per the manufactures instructions?
The first initial charge is the most important.
If performed incorrectly, the battery is doomed.
Try bringing the battery back to where you bought it, if from a shop. Let them re-charge and then check it on a "load tester".
They might replace it.

If the battery was purchased new, either:-
it has not been properly filled with electrolite. OR it has not recieved a full charge. Just enough to start it once.

Put your battery on a motorcycle trickle charger or optimate until it is fully charged then try again.

When you say 'struggle with starting', did you mean the battery was reluctant to turn the motor over or did you mean the motor was reluctant to start.
Different problem if the latter.

Not sure on the F to C conversions but usually in stop and go traffic any bike will run hot. If you are cruising in a low gear at high RPMs then expect heat. Get on the highway in high gear with some air flowing through the bike and the temps will go down I bet. My fans come on at 85 degrees. thats about 185 degrees converted. If I stay running in that stop and go it will shoot up to 100 degrees or 212 converted and I can feel my overflow tube releasing steam under my seat. Time to get moving or pull over and chill for a few. My bike is in celcius too but I'm in America

Check the wires coming from the battery and make sure they are not broken in any way. Or it could be the alternator, bring it to autozone they check it for free.

besides what everyone else stated.. bad battery. ( walmart ). it is a sealed battery so it would already be charged. I would check you trottle adj knob. under the gas tank right hand side. see if that has been adjusted.
