Question about meeting in the judges chambers?
When my EX beat me up in another state( years ago), and I took him to court, I was given a court appointed attorney. I am now living in FL, he's from another state, and they said I have to have my own attorney. He has one that showed up for the 1st court date stating his client knew nothing of the proceedings. I showed the judge copy of receipt for the supeona. It was then rescheduled for tomorrow morning in her chambers.

What do I need to know or expect? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

The charge is harrassment / stalking.

Thanks for your time in answering this question.

This willbe more of a private meeting instead of a public hearing. Much less legally formal. All you can do is be as honest and answer the questions asked and dont volunteer anything. There wont be any right or wrong answers so just be yourself. The Judge will try and work something out here that is beneficial to both parties but probably not as legal as if held in real court. This is really not an extremely serious charge so adjudicatation will probably be withheld which basically means he will be warned and if this doesnt come up in front of him again nothing will happen but if it does then there will be serious jail time involved. This doesnt effect a criminal record as per se as a normal conviction. But just be yourself and keep your cool. Youre not on trial here

no longer having an criminal professional would nicely be a mistake. At this element, you could both ask for a delay to get one or proceed. answer honestly, or maybe tempered, each of the questions requested of you. pay interest heavily and talk typically. His criminal professional will attempt to 'trick' you in 'some' way, possibly to assert that you provoked the incidents or that you're in basic terms mendacity. seek for him to 'qualify' your personality as dishonest. Deny what isn't genuine and ensure what's. Judges are wise. they could smell a lie a mile off. Heck, they do this widely used. So, do no longer believe that this choose is hostile to you...they are frequently impartial. good success

it means he /she will hear this matter in chambers (office) not in open court. less formal but rules still do apply , no yelling or fighting...
