We missed with Ross, but maybe Mike can make a real run! A 3rd party is what is really needed in American Politics. Let the house be democratic, the Senate be Rebublican and the President be an independent. It is a very bright aspect and with his platform we could do allot worse than President Micheal Bloomberg!

As an independent, I love the fact that he is entering the race. I believe this country needs a strong third party. He is a great candidate because he is a true reformer and gets results. He has been successful in the business community as well as the government office on the local government level. I believe he can be one of the candidates that can reform the US back into shape.

He reform the New York School system, which now has its highest graduation rate since the stat was taken. He has taken steps to help the environment by setting a goal by 2012 all Yellow Cabs will become hybrid cars. He is a supporter of immigration reform. He has lowered crime in New York, better than Giuliani's terms. He is fiscal responsible. He balanced the budget in New York after their fiscal crisis from the 9/11 attack (balancing the budget is one of my top priorities). He has taken steps to reduce poverty.

He is one of few candidates with executive government experience. Others: Richardson, Giuliani, Gilmore, Huckabee, and Romney. He made some major results. I believe he will definitely impact the race, since I believe most Americans want change and are sick of both party. We need a candidate that can get things done and can bring both parties together to solve America's greatest challenges.

Bloomberg has been a superb mayor for the City of New York. He basically has the same politics as Guiliani, but with a great deal more compassion and civility. Despite what one of the answers says above, the City has flourished under Bloomberg (btw, real estate prices going up in a city shows that people want to live there, and to criticize a mayor for rising real estate prices is absurd. Also, NYC crime, overall, has remained steady since Guiliani left). If Bloomberg ran for a third term for mayor, he would easily get 65% of the vote and a majority of both Republicans and Democrats. His business sense is unparalleled in politics today, and he absolutely would not cave in to lobbists or big industry.

On the other hand, my concern is that a Bloomberg run for presidency would siphon off votes for the democratic nominee, paving the way to a Republican victory. We'll just have to wait and see how Bloomberg's conversion to an independent is going to play out.

P.S. His best choice for VP would be The Terminator, but, alas, Arnie couldn't be president because of an archaic rule in the US Constitution.

The current disenchantment being felt by members of the Republican and Democratic Parties is so intense that there is a distinct possibility that this may mark the birth of a legitimate third political party in the U.S. AND an ideal way to keep Democrats AND Republicans ACCOUNTABLE to our requests for AUTHENTIC political representation !!!

We are currently being sold down the river by George W. Bush and members of both political parties in this current "SHAMNESTY BILL" that George W. is pushing so hard to get passed because he is absolutely desperate for some semblance of a presidential legacy.

" SHAMNESTY " !!!

SHAME ON ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORT THIS SHAMNESTY BILL !!!

Let's get a third political party started that will serve as a sobering reminder to the Democratic and Republican Parties that they can no longer take us for granted!

Watch how many people from both political parties change their party affiliation in order to vote for an Independent Party candidate in their presidential primary.

Positive. Bloomberg just resigned from the Republican Party and will probably run for President. He's got the smarts, balls and money to become President.

I live in NYC and in no way would I vote him. Ever since he became mayor the rents and cost of real estate have gone overboards. He made it impossible for anyone who is not a millionaire to live in Manhattan. The starting price for a studio apartment in NYC today is about 1.5 million, before he was mayor it was $500, 000.. With him as mayor the citys rent stablized saw the highest increases in their rent in history.
Also crime has gone up since he became mayor.
I would never vote for someone who used to be a democrat then changed to republican to become mayor now changes to independent to run for president.. Guy is not trustworthy!!
Will he change back to democrat if the independent ticket does not work out?
What a phoney

Person below me is lying, Crime has gone up since Gulianni left. Bloomberg sucks.
