seems like you're more concerned about your mom than the gecko! a gecko does require some monitoring of the cage temp and live food but there's no fur, no feathers, no smelly fish water, no barking or chirping, no walks or litter box, and a young gecko really only eats $1 worth of crickets per week. they're friendly and cute, too! it does, as with any other pet, require a level of responsibility. you need to be ready to buy a day light bulb and a night light bulb and keep the tank at a constant temperature. you need to provide somewhere to hide and a water dish, plus some cage bottom cover, even a towel will do if it flat, clean and free from detergents. live food may turn your mom off but make sure she knows you're okay with it and willing to step up to the responsibility of caring for a pet.
make sure your ready to take on this responsibility and tell your mom how great a pet a gecko is! good luck :-)

They need a 15-20 gallon tank with a screen lid, an undertank heater, NO SAND (causes fatal impactions), 3 hiding places which include a moist hide to assist with shedding, heat on the floor kept at 88-91degrees for proper digestion. You'll need to feed crickets (which have to be the right size--very small for baby geckos) which also have to be well fet a good cricket food and have water and be kept clean. The crickets need to be dusted with calcium and a mineral supplement daily at first. They need a water bowl. For more info go to www.reptilerooms.com and read the forums on leopard geckos. Learn all you can and when you think you are ready, present all the facts to your mom. Offer to earn the money if that is needed. Leos are very sweet and make good pets if their housing and diet is correctly maintained.

Well, you'll need a 20-gallon tank, a heat pad, a good substrate (such as Repti-Sand), and vitamin dust (to put on his crickets). If you have the space and the money for all that, leopard geckos are incredibly easy pets to keep.

Tell your mom these things:

1. Leopard geckos are not only completely harmless but extremely friendly. You really have to work to get a leopard gecko to bite you.

2. They're very clean animals because they have a "litter box" mentality like a cat. They always go to the bathroom in the same area of their tank, which makes it a breeze to clean.

3. They're easy to care for. Once their tank is set up, all you need to do is keep the water dish full and put about 10 large crickets in the tank each week.

what you need to do is to learn what your mom loves you to do then tell her you will do that and before you ask make up some other things you will do to then realize how and what she uses in previous arguments and come up with comebacks to them all (before you ask her)then once youve thought of stuff till your tired of it think some more then ask her if she says no stretch the truth about the gecko lizard in a good way then if she still says no then say something like (why dont you ever give me a chance )(im tired of you being so strict )or (how will i prove im ready if you never let me) then list the responsabilities that you will take care of and not your parents hope this helps.

If your mother does not want you to have it there is a reason for it. You live under her roof so you need to respect her rules.

But if you do get it you should name it GEICO lol...........
