It already has. Corn based foodstuff products like flour, syrup sweeteners, animal feeds and oil face decrease aspects in a severe call for economic device because of the fact of diversions to the ethanol production here and in different worldwide places. For all that it style of feels to artwork out as a wreck even deal using delivery and a short shelf life to call purely 2. and that i don't think of every person is battling to evaluate how plenty CO2 is given off via the fermentation of the product on my own. So we could be throwing good foodstuff away on a product that replaced into not nicely concept out. you could for my section positioned fairly some the blame on the massive vehicle production companies interior the U. S. for finding out to purchase up our public transportation systems, in general rail companies and steel interior the initiating of the 1900's to develop call for for automobiles. No different usa has the variety of elect for automobiles and maximum different usa's, esp ecu ones have super public transportation that frees one from automobile possession.

You are absolutely right!
ethanol will raise the prices of almost everything, but not because of us making it, but because the production of it is being managed poorly.
ethanol can be made using agricultural waste, but is it?? NO.
It is being made with the products that are the easiest to obtain to increase the speed of production, which appears to lower production costs. this makes sense, until product prices shoot up.
the whole idea behind biofuels, isn't to just make fuels out of plant biomass, but to recycle waste and turn it into energy. This is not occurring, so what you have stated will be the most likely result of the economy, once again mismanaging resources. but hey, that is the poor decisions you face with "free market".
Soon we will be faced with a decision of whether or not to allow energy production to remain part of the free market economy, or produce it in a fashion that will boost all other levels of the economy rather than hinder them, but remove it from the private sector.

More importantly, it will raise the price of gasoline as the oil industry has warned us ahead of time. Uh oh, I just farted and put some methane into the atmosphere, will that also raise the price of gasoline?

Actually, I happen to think corn syrup is an incredibly unhealthy product. I'd be happy to see it priced out of the market, and have products sweetened with sugar or other alternatives.

So we should do nothing?
If we lower our consumption by 15% by using ethanol the price ber barrel should fall. I seem to recall $22 a barrel before we invaded Iraq. What's it now, $70

Pretty much everything. It's totally stupid to make fuel out of something so important to our food chain. And with the amount of water it takes to produce corn... a drought could be a real economic disaster.
We need to tell the enviromentalists, "up theirs" and get busy drilling our own oil and building new refineries.
