Greater Orlando is a sprawling metropolis 40-50 miles across. For quality of life it is more important to be in the best area near your work place. A 30 mile, $4.00 toll commute day in and day out can make even the nicest neighborhood seem not so good.
And of course, affordability varies dramatically. The nicer places, closer to the center are very expensive.
You might get more useful answers if you identify the general area where the job is, what your affordability range might be, and what kind of work you would be interested in.

One thing to remember about Florida is that there is no state income tax. So, even if the pay scale is a little smaller - you are going to make up for it by not paying taxes to the state on your income. There are a lot of great places in the Orlando area, but the previous posters are right. It's best to find a place you love that's also not going to be adding a huge commute to your day. Traffic can be horrible and tolls can get expensive!
The southeast portion of Orlando has a lot of technology jobs in Research Park and Lockheed Martin and there is also the UCF campus. There is also plenty of shopping and dining, along with great neighborhoods and A rated schools. It's less than an hour from the theme parks, about 30 - 40 minutes from the airport and an hour or so to the coastline. You can have small town living in the middle of all the Orlando excitement.

East Orlando, near UCF, Oviedo, and the Narcoossee area (5 mins east of airport) are great areas, but housing is pretty high. Good schools, good shopping, and good way to raise kids. Southwest around Hunters Creek is also nice. It depends what you are looking for. Do you want to live in a community with a high percentage of a particular race? Do you like variety? Do you want downtown? The other poster was very right, I have never seen so many tolls one right after the other in my life! I took a part time job on the other side of town and I am reconsidering, I am paying too much in tolls and gas just to do a 30 min commute! And yes, it's about $4.00 in tolls if I take 528!
If you are more specific, I am sure we can help you more. And unless you have an established career, like teaching, nursing, engineering, etc...many jobs you will find around here will be service jobs with minimum wage.
The poster below that said to stay away: those three areas are the worse!!!!! SHOOTINGS EVERY NIGHT!

Celebration is a wonderful community. Its in kind of a "bubble" The area surrounding it is touristy with some bad crime in parts and terrible traffic all around. Celebration itself is very high end. Its mostly lawyers, doctors and rich white people. I was looking at buying a house but the HOA fees would have been twice my mortgage plus it has a lot of Deed Restrictions. There is a nice elementry school in the heart of the town. OH Celebration is not its own city. Its actually just part of the county. The Orlando Metro area is rather expansive. You really need to come down for a weekend if you can and see what areas you like. I would make a suggestion of the Lake Nona Area. Its a newer part and is really nice. Its perfect for a small family like yours.

i moved to orlando last year, the areas, i knew to avoid was zip code 32809, and 32808. they have a lot of gated communities in different areas, the area which is near the international airport is good too. but depending on what industry you are in you have different jobs, alot of people travel 30mins or more to jobs, depending. and also the pay rate is lower, i have notice. but i love living here none the less.
