In other words, to know that you could make the best of the talents you have but, not to want to pursue them-mostly because you don't want to push yourself and work hard.

It is neither right nor wrong... it is just a choice you are making between using or not using your talents in any ambitious way. If it is due to laziness, you may regret later, but if it is due to genuine lack of ambition, I think you would be better off by not yielding to external pressure from others through 'wise' statements such as.......

What a waste
You owe it to the society......

because ambition achieved can only lead to a higher ambition Genuine lack of ambition, which is neither due to laziness nor due to lack of confidence, is any day a better bet for lasting happiness... I have not come across anyone who is ambitious and yet is able to possess a peaceful mind.

Thanks for a great Star question!!

Yes its very wrong.

A talent is something that comes naturally to an individual, something they are good at, love doing, its what they were born to do. Thats not to say they dont have to work at it to perfect it.

You would have to be extremely lazy to not want to follow your natural intrinsic urges/abilities.

I dont know if ambitious is the right word (are you talking about your ability for fame and fortune), if you are sporty or creative and you dont wish to pursue it thats your business...although it is a waste.

If you are talented in other ways eg intelligence, intuition, humanistic, altruistic you really have no choice as regards ignoring these, this is your way of being.

A talent is a gift. (and a rare one in this day and age).
But no one is that talented that they don`t need to work hard at it - infact if young they are probaly pushed to work harder than the average.
It is so easy to let it slip away and before you know it, the prosperous talent you once had becomes just a hobbie or worst a party trick.
It is a waste but like I said its takes more than just `talent` to be the best a something. Dedication, practice and loneliness.....Even geniusis(geneie?) work exceptionally hard to get to the top.... If you have a talent for something just go for it, dedicate 3 yrs of your life to it 24/7 and if your not happy then quit after that..but if you are happy then you may be on the way to the top. 3yrs is`nt a long time when you look back.
Regrets suck.

I don't think it's wrong to do that, but maybe your reasons aren't quite what I'd think. I have been told I have a very good voice (on more than one occasion people have told me mine is the best voice they've ever heard - I don't hear that myself), but I've never pushed that side of things because, although i wouldn't say no to the money, I wouldn't want fame. I like to be able to go home to a regular house in a regular village and just be me. Being famous would mean I'd never be able to do that again. Wasting a talent through being unambitious is your own choice, I just hope that in later life you have no regrets.

'if you wait long enough one might provoke the other'

we as humans have an inherent urge to better ourselves and for those who have no talent they have no choice but to learn how to acquire them, and for those who have them but put them to no use then there circumstance 's will.

'if you wait long enough one might give up on the other'

I don't think its wrong. It might be a shame for the rest of us to miss out on somebody who has an amazing talent that we will never know about.

That ism for lack of a better word, a sin, to do such a thing. Do you have any idea how many people wish they had that advantage? Talent is a rare gift and a blessing, you shouldn't waste either.

Being talented is self satisfying, being talented and ambitious is self gratifying.
