Tori Amos- Little Earthquakes
Quiet and confessing songs...
Crucify- Underlying message is no matter what she does, it's never good enough for him.
Girl- song lyrics "She's been everybody else's girl, maybe one day she'll be her own"
Winter- Song about her father questioning when she will love herself like he loves her...lyrics "When you gonna make up your mind? When you gonna love you as much as I do? When you gonna make up your mind, casue things are gonna change so fast..."
Me and A Gun- Account of her rape...no instruments, only her voice. Very powerful.
This album, which was released in like 1992, is one of my all time favorites. It's beautiful, sad, and eloquent. I really do recommend it.

Easily the darkest, most depressing album I've heard in some time is Dawn Of Solace - The Darkness. A side project by Tuomas Saukkonen of Before The Dawn. Awesome!!

Oh, God, that is difficult. I suppose there are a million and one songs and/or albums I could name, but the most current one is a song I used to suffer through at work. It was a country ballad whose lyrics went
"I hate my job
I hate my life
If it wasn't for my kids
I'd hate my wife"
I guess anything with a whiny melody and neurotic lyrics would count.

The Pretender by Jackson Browne is pretty depressing, but really great at the same time. His wife committed suicide........
