apply lime. mushrooms show up when there is organic matter such as pet feces or wood or something like that. they are just doing their job. when you apply lime you are adjusting the ph. it is harmless to all. ok to water in lawn.

It is not easy, either start digging at them about 6 inches down and 6 inches wide on either side to remove the entire plant that actually lives under the ground.
The mushroom you see is the seeded fruit. (actually spores)
The whole plant is under the ground, so digging deep and wide is important.
IF YOU CAN GO TO A FARM STORE LIKE AGWAY, NOT A DEPARTMENT you might find two chemicals one called Prostar and one called Heritage.
Both of these have to be drenched thoroughly into the earth fully.
That might take an expert, if you can't get the products on your own.

Pluck it out along with its roots and the soil surrounding the mushroom, make sure that you don't spill the spore's.
