It probably feels like crap to you but I assume you are living with them out of necessity. My son (24) is back in college for the second time and living at home while there. He doesn't like it much either. But he realizes that it makes perfect sense since you can't earn enough money part time to pay rent & where else would you be able to have a great meal on the table every night, laundry facilities that don't cost a thing & the use of a car without paying insurance & car payments (assuming you don't already own a car).

He's looking forward to the day he can get out into his own apartment & believe it or not - so are we !!!

No not at all. You are safe with your parents. In many societies abroad children do not leave their homes until they are married and there are many even in england who are in their 30s living at home. It is expensive also to live away from home, you do not get as good a meals as you would at home. The only restrictions you might feel is that you may not be able to go and do some of the things guys of your age want to do. It can be a very lonely life living away from your parents. It sounds an ideal situation but there are many who regret the move but do not like to return home for fear of being thought of as wimps. If you really and truly wan to leave wait till you have a steady girlfriend and then move in with her and at least you wont feel lonely and will have someone to go out with as well as a companion you get on with.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Keep living there until you finish college, get a job, save some money and then move out. If you're still living there when you're 30 then you have a problem, 20 is normal.

Im 20, and I just moved out of my parents house a few months ago. Sometimes I wish I was still living there! If you can stand living with your parents, have at it! If you're still there at 26, I'd be worried! lol

Just because you live with your parents doesn't mean that you don't have to do anything.

I still live with my mother (i'm 21), but we go halves in everything. I'm hardly home but I still pay my way. I need to get on my feet first, get a car and save up for somethings...then i'll be out on my own :) can't wait!!

But no, it's not crap.

No way dude, its cool, now in days many young people still live with moms and pops because its tough to live on your own. just dont pass 30 yrs also save your money to buy something in the future, i moved out till i was 33 yrs old, because i wanted to be with them not that i couldnt afford it. now im happily married

The best person to answer this is your parents.
If they're OK with you still living there then make the most of it and save as much as possible so you can afford a decent place when you leave.

No, I'm doing the same thing (same age too). It's only wrong if you don't work or go to school & just sit around doing nothing. But you really should consider moving out soon though.

No, not at all. It would be crap if you lived with them and didn't go to school or have a job. But alot of my friends live with their parents and are attending college. There is absolutley nothing wrong with it!

It is OK. Save all the money you can and after college, make the break from the parents!
