OH LORD, HELP!
NO ONE HAS TO PAY FOR FRAUDULENT SPENDING BY
A CROOK.
IF THE ESTATE IS STILL OPEN THE ESTATE DOES NOT HAVE TO PAY THE BILL. IT HAS TO BE PROVEN THAT THE DECEASED PERSON WAS THE DEBTOR BY THE PERSONS BRINGING THE ACTION AGAINST THE DECEASED.

Whoever the Fraudulent spending was against should be covered under thier bank insurance through the FDIC. Whoever the person is that is deceased and their name is being used should be reported to the National Credit Card Registry as well as the IRS. Both numbers can be found in the phone book. Since my Father is deceased and I have the same name, I had a problem with this a while back. Somebody opened a credit card in my fathers name and the bills were being sent to me. I immediately reported it to the credit card company which stopped the card and reported it to the FBI. That is why most credit card companies are going with a photo on the card. The person was later caught when they tried to use the credit card. Good luck.

That falls on the store who will have to either try to find the person and make them pay or the store will just have to eat the cost. Either way, the store needs to make a fraud report so it's on file with the PD in case they catch the person.
And if this is your family member, you need to talk with the Check Squad and notify them what is happening and see if you can make a report and be notified if there is any action taken on the case at a later date.

It depends on what is spent. You need to look carefully at the transactions that took place. Usually, the institution holding the account has to eat the cost. The FIRST thing you need to do is to file a police report! Then, I suggest you call a bank or credit counselor. There are certain steps that must be taken, and some states add steps, etc.

Obviously, the banks or stores would have to eat the costs.
