All sound is noise, especially if you're not used to it.

I'd say Rock, is music utilising blues type chords, and a strong beat. It was "developed" in the 60's by "white" R&B groups, such as The Animals, The Yardbirds, The Spencer Davis Group, and The Who amongst many others.

While I wouldn't agree with it completely Wikipedia provides a half decent article

Rock, is hectic, powerful, filled with energy kinda music. It comes in diffrent forms of the genre, from soft ballads to powerfull energetic riffs. Many great legendary rock bands from all over the world, many form what kinda rock music is around today allowing more experiamental music in using the same base of rock music, that will never change.
If you go to a rock consert, you will know how amazing it is, thousands of people losing themselves for a few hrs in the sounds of drums, electric guitars, keyboards and strong powerful vocals. It cant be beat :)

Not noise, its what feelings sound like, whether your angry,happy or feel like you need release in your life.I admit, there is alot of horrible rock bands out there, mostly theyre mainstream. Some bands are truely great though like The Vines and Green Day. Dont judge so quickly at least were not making songs only about demeaning women or about all the money we have *cough cough* hip hop. give rock a chance or just get the f*ck out. thanks =)

Real music, made by real instruments.
Not scratched disks or computer remixes that seem to dominate a lot of other modern music and genres.

Also a solid object found on/in the ground...
Good for throwing.
