I agree with you 100%. Democrats and Republicans have the same basic agenda, which is to appeal to the public enough to get elected. They both just as bad, but people who identify with one party or the other seem to have rose-colored glasses for that party. That is why the state of the political system in America is so bad right now, no one thinks for themselves anymore.

Since all political parties are financed by huge corporative individual and lobbies, it make sense, that their interest leans on the same side, conservative or not... Those parties need more money than ever to get elected, as it cost a lot to "control" human emotions and mind in order to get the intented results (which mean, their votes). With the globalisation becoming an everyday reality, those corporations are becoming Multinationals, and in this way, they have much broader interests than most Americans... So, because of this, I am not sure that they are taking into account, what American peoples want, but rather what their wallet need to get full...
Electoral platforms are now only used to promote corporate interests while exhibiting some candies for the voters... But the main difference between the two sides are illusional...
No money= no power...
But the only things that annoy me, is that most lobbiist are representing few thousands votes (which mean people normally), but those peoples are working for who???

LOL
I have often wondered why people think they are so different when they are both centrist on the political spectrum. I guess most people dont know what the spectrum is or are not taught what it is.
LOL
Let me see if I can put them innto perspective for people to see
Left Right
Com Soc Green Dem Rep Independ Lib Anar
The dems want you to have freedom of morals but want control of your business
The reps want you to have freedom of your business but control of your morals
So long as both these parties are in office they will control our lives. The farther left you go the more totalitarian government becomes - all the way to a dictatorship.
The libertarians want you to have control of both your morals and yoru business and want government so small that they cannot iinterfere with your personal life and decisons at all. The farther right you go the less government is involved in your life -- all the way to the anarchist that want NO government at all.
As you can see from the simplified diagram above, the dem and the reps are right next to each other in the middle of the grid. There should be no wonder why they are so much alike being that they are so close to each other.
The differences lie on the outer fringes. hats where your changes will take place. If you want to make an impact and you lean right - vote libertarian - its the omnly valid choice on the ballot.

It's true that the Republicans and Democrats aren't that different - probably because they're taking money from most of the same special interests.
The rank-and-file of those parties, though, do have very different opinions, and it's those ideaologies - shaped by the political expedients of people who probably aren't really that comitted to them - that are what's being called out when the 'labels' are aplied.
Think of them as labels for ideas rather than individuals and it's a little easier to take.

Your request is duly noted although I never preface my questions or answers with the prefaces you refer to. No one labels me. I hold no political affiliation at ALL. I would however, offer that the majority of those who label are from the older generation; they do not feel 'counted' NOR do they feel worthy unless they are labeled.
.
oh and yes. the Dems and conservatives are very much alike. They don't READ anything they should. They are all liars. They spend too much time congratulating and patting each other on the back at their many useless senate hearings. They are just people. Taking up space, until they are replaced by others who will also take up space and lie and cheat and steal.....
Pathetic.

The parties are so close now and big business and the lobbyists have them in their back pockets .
They laugh behind our backs when we fight over the Democrat or Republican party/candidates because they line their pockets, get the perks, get the best retirement and health care.
Nothing will happen until America starts voting out the incumbents no matter what party they are until they get the message .....
WE the AMERICAN PEOPLE are in charge not the lobbyists, not the ceo's,not the special interest groups.

Liberal and Conservative politicians have alot in common.
-They're both owned by corporations
-They're both corrupt
-They both lie to get elected
-They never do anything they say
-At the end of the day, they do business w/ each other
All of these people who go back and forth whining about "liberal this" and "conservative that" are just tools for a larger agenda. I lean to the left however I do not by any means support or lean towards a certain political party.

I so totally agree. Both sides have selfish agendas of their own and people need to stop acting like their "Side" is different or better. Its all ridiculous. The labels need to stop...it is very annoying.

A lot of those questioners are just trying to get people upset. They are not well thought out, thought provoking, intriguing questions. There are differences, I think, but most people simply adopt the party views of their parents.
