You may have a university around where you live that has a herpetologist (reptile and amphibian expert), Wildlife Management instructor, or student chapter of the National Wildlfie Society. When I was teaching, our folks often got calls from pond owners to help remove snapping turtles. These people have the traps to remove them and relocate them to another area.

Beyond that, you can contact your local fish and wildlife office for advice.

Turtles are a natural part of a natural pond. they help keep sick and wounded fish in check. However if you find you have too many the best way to rid your pond is by fishing them out.

A turtle line (I use 80# fishing line with a 1" hook) Chicken livers, chicken or even fish heads work great. Toss the lines in and let them sit over night. Check them in the morning. You can either relocate the turtles, eat the turtles (I'll email you good recipies) or what ever it is you want to do with them.

Be sure to tie down the turtle lines with a good tent steak.

Why do you want to get rid of turtles in your pond? If you have an outdoor pond, they you're inviting wildlife in. We've had frogs, birds drinking. We have even had a crane land in it. You are the one who has the pond, so let nature be free to enter it. Afterall, it's outdoors.

The turtles will not harm the fish. I have water turtles in my pond & as long as I keep the turtles well fed, they don't eat all of my fish. They're bound to eat some fish, but so do birds such as owls & hawks (I've seen it in people's outside ponds). I'd live with the turtles & take care of them since you're the one who made an outside pond.

I agree compleatly with Gypsydayne

Find out what kind of turtle they are, think about were you live and start calling people around you and see if there is any thing that can be done!

I would just try to catch them and selling them to a petstore or on www.craigslist.org
Good luck
