I like the star system and often look at those questions first. But I do look at others where the question seems interesting, because I've found lots that were great questions but nobody bothered to star them.
So, a suggestion here...If you see a really great question (including additional details if any) and you say to yourself "good question!", please take a moment to tell the asker you appreciate the question by starring it. YA calls this "good citizenship".
When the blocker system came out I went through a couple of pages to find the trolls (really awful "questions") and block them before I had to react and answer them. I know if I respond in anger I run the risk of a violation. It is a good system because they cannot track me either. (I had a few who would always appear after me on multiple questions.)

I like to star good questions, although i do not utilize the system to bypass questions. Maybe if more people used the system I would.

I like it. As soon as I log on I go straight to the questions that my friends have starred, answered or asked.

I haven't noticed that the staring system has helped me nor hindered me. There have been some really great questions that haven't received any stars...and in turn...some truly terrible questions that have received several stars.

Sometimes it's good, other times not so good. The little red "blocked" symbol out beside the names does help, it shows me the questions I don't even need to skim over to read.
