I honestly don't believe that anyone can...'cause I've been through a divorce, and it is emotionally draining. I don't think someone who hasn't been through it would completely understand what it's like...but I do think they could sympathize with you.

Yes I do. I am a marriage counselor who has never been married. I find it gives me an objective perspective. In my spare time I coach soccer, although I have never played it. I am also a grief counselor who has never experienced grief. Again, the same premise applies. If you have been there and done that then you are too emotionally involved to be objective. Of course I am kidding. No, I don't know what it is like. I have never been divorced, although I have been married for 17 years. You are begging the question. No one who has not gone through the experience can truthfully know the emotional toll, even when you see and hear it second hand from friends.

I don't think they can. They certainly can feel the pain especially when it's someone you love or care very much about. My sister recently got a divorce after 24 years. He was never faithful in their marriage but she stayed. Then one day he walked out and he messes with her mind all the time. He just got married his "girlfriend." She knows she better off and she knows that he will do the same to her but it's been very tough.

well, yes and no. people who haven't been through a divorce wouldn't know exactly what it feels like. but there are certainly problems as big as that that cause the same amount of emotional distress in this world, and because of that, im sure people know what its like to feel so terrible.

No...same with every other experience...even if you've gone through the same experience as another person, you haven't been in their shoes and so no one can TRULY know exactly what someone else is going through...the best a person can do is empathize.

I would never lesson what you're feeling by saying one way or the other Oracle. It's impossible to know what that pain is for each person.
I will say, I understand what loss means and it hurts.
Keep hope alive, it does get better :)
