My wife - before she was my wife - and was, in fact, someone else's wife told me, "This would be a lot easier if I didn't love you."
That was the day we finally admitted to each other how we truly felt about each other.
And I'll never forget that feeling as long as I live. That "she-feels-the-same-way" feeling.
Powerful stuff.

Don't give up. Not words of love, but words of wisdom and encouragement are some of the most loving things someone can say to you. In this instance I was told, get on your own two feet, make something of yourself and if you fall get back up, which I did and am eternally gatefull to that person. Anyone can say I love you, but it is the actions that go with those words that really count.

Not many people know this about me, (You do! ;) but I have a tendency to get down about myself. I was going on, once, to a friend who understood such things, about what a bad person I was. Naturally, he was disagreeing with me, but I just kept interjecting, "You just don't understand ..." Finally, he sighed, looked me in the eye, and said, "Do you think I'M a bad person, too?" I was surprised. "No! Of course not!" And he said, "Well, I like you."
It doesn't sound like much to say, but it changed my way of thinking forever. Now when I feel bad about myself, I think about how wonderful the people are who love me, and it helps a lot.

My husband is in the Army, and when he was away at basic training, we wrote long letters back and forth to one another. I always closed them out by letting him know he was 'always in my thoughts and forever in my heart.' :) I don't know how romantic anyone might think that is, but it's something we still tell one another now.

In my marriage vows. The promise to always love each other for who we are and never to try and change the other for who we are at any given time is always the love of my life.
To me, that is love.
