well, if you're a lamia (lah-me-uh) which is a vampire that can have kids. Lamia can hold their image at any certain age they want as long as they've already hit that age, once they stop the hold-off-the-age process they catch up to their real age. so say you're 500 years old and you've been pretending to look 17 all your life. If you get tired of holding off the age, you look 500 years old, which would be pretty scary.
Vampires that are changed by bite grow old, but will ALWAYS have the same appearance.
Hope it helps! =D

Vampire's do grow old, thou at a slow rate of speed. A yr to a Vampire is like a sec to us. So when they die at , lets say 40 they seem 40 for at least 400 yrs before looking 41 , by the time they look 100 they are 40,000 yrs old, this is only a theory as I cant find any vampires willing to take a study

Vampires don't age since they are no longer alive.
In reference to the person who commented on Vlad -- Vlad the Impaler was not a vampire, BUT, he did drink blood. He was known to cut throats and drain the blood into a cup and drink it right before entering battle. A saying that was attributed to him was, more or less, that he had drunk the blood of a 100 Christians so would be victorious in battle. He was a sadistic man who tortured his people mercilessly.

They stay they way they looked when they were converted in a vampire. They age as in they might be 200 years old, but they don't age in appearance

in all the myths they appear the way they were when they got turned except for Dracula and Lilith who are considered noble vampires, who can change their appearance...and for those who say they don`t exist, take a look at the section you`re in! and i`ve seen an answerer saying Vlad was the only vampire, no Vlad wasn`t a vampire at all.

I think with the immortality they probably appear as any age they choose, provided they are getting the nourishment they need.
Totally conjecture though, since I've never meet a vampire who wasn't delusional or psychotic I can't say for sure.

In Bram Stokers Dracula, the count appears to be very old at first, until he drinks some blood, which rejuvinates him. Do vampires really exist? There's no smoke without fire.

To find out you must go to the post office on old age pension day and see how many you can spot in the queue. Make sure you are well equipped with silver bullets (or is that werewolves?) garlic, stakes etc. because you can never be too careful. Happy hunting!

Vlad The Impaler is the only true vampire, he is where the stories come from, although he never drank peoples blood just glorified in it.
There is one medieval Queen who used to bath in virgin's blood and of course not forgetting The Marquess de Sade, who had a thing about young blood as well.
I think there are certain tribes in Africa who drink blood and the Chinese drink snake blood, supposed to be good for them, yuck!
But I don't think there was ever any vampires as shown in movies, but didn't they drink blood to retain their youth, so as long as they had a fresh supply they would be forever young.
