when a potential company is asking about you at a place that let you go, won't that pretty much preclude you from ever getting a job again?

If you get fired?

This is a curiosity question I have had for a while.

No, I've never been fired. But I'm a teacher. You have to screw up pretty bad to get fired.

Whether you get hired or not could depend on the type job and type of responsibility you will be assigned. Sometimes it could depend on your appearance and attitude, too.

If you were fired for stealing, it may well hurt your chances of getting hired somewhere else but the person should have thought about that before they stole. That's why honesty is always the best policy.

Forgot ~ you could always say "let go" and see if they ask what that means.
