I dont particularly want to do away with the PC as its a pretty good performer. I would just like to know if there is a way I can boost the performance of the Pentium 3 so I can watch AVI movie files. There is 768mb of RAM installed.

I doubt your processor is the problem. In any event, you can't overclock the P3 or anything like that.

I can watch .avi files just fine on an 800Mhz Pentium 3 with 512mb. Usually the issue is having the right codecs and/or DirectX installed... What's happening when you try to view them?

Here is a reputable "guaranteed" memory provider. Look up your system at http://www.coastmemory.com This will show what your computer came with, what it takes, and how much it can take.
