The prize home is huge and beautiful... white walls, white carpet etc and MUST be kept absolutely spotless at all times. Means no ironing left on the couch to do later, no paper on the table. No dirt, no toys (if you had kids) left lying around. SPOTLESS.
Or a "home home" You can leave stuff lying around to pick up later. It's not that big but "cozy" and feels more homely than the prize home.
There's nothing wrong with each, it would just be interesting to see what people think. Some people like living in spotless mansions and some people would rather live in small homely houses.
Which would you pick?
reason for question my friend used to live in a house like that with her parents aggges ago and she hated it!! She said her step father had that house pretty much to show off when people came over. Nothing out of place in that home. Whenever I went over there it was sort of uncomfortable, I felt like me just sitting there messed the place up!

I would rather live in the "home home" where I could just be myself..That means I COULD keep it clean or if I'm tired, busy or just plain lazy one day I can just leave things lying around without getting crazy about it...I wnat to be able to be comfortable where I live...

For me, the prize home would only be a prize house. 'Home is where the heart is' and a showcase house seems way too sterile.
Notches on the door frame, showing how your kids grew, older furniture that the kids jump on and guests flop out on, a living room that is lived in... that's a home for me.
My mom-in-law (nice lady) had a showcase living room. People were allowed in it, but no drinks or food, etc.
Once, my daughter and I were sitting there and my daughter, suddenly and without warning, projectile vomitted on the glass plate covered oak coffee table and the carpet and couch. The look of horror on my mom-in-law's face... wish I had a camera.
That's part of the problem with show homes... it can screw up your priorities at times. Her concern for her granddaughter was there, no doubt, but it was being obscured by her concern for her 'things'.
Peace

I would want to live in a home home because I am too lazy to keep my house clean. Who has time to clean, when you sit on Yahoo! Answers all day?! I have priorities!

I could never live in a museum. My home is pretty comfy, though I would like it to be less cluttered and I wouldn't mind fixing it up a bit. But it would always be comfortable, except to snobs.

If you can't make yourself feel right at home,in your own home-that is sad! My home is comfortable and I want my family and friends to feel comfortable, when they come over to visit.I totally agree with you on this one.

i love homey homes. Prize homes may be beautiful, but they feel more like museums than real homes to me.
