CFC's were generally used in propellants for spray cans of things like hair spray or deodorant. Now we use less harmful gases like CO2.

CFC's were also used in refrigeration units like air conditioners and freezers. They were known as "freon" and are now only distributed in the US to licensed mechanical repairmen.

Although CFC's were banned in the industrialized nations many years ago, they continue in use in what are known as "third world" nations. There are few regulations in these countries.

CFC's are already banned. People ignore the ozone layer now. These days, the big political push is for greenhouse gasses (mostly CO2).
