Why do so many heterosexual people think they know more about gay sex than we glbt people do? How do they know?

If someone is uncomfortable in their own life they have to find something to attack to validate their existence. It doesn't matter where they get information about the "face of the enemy" they choose, and they do not bother to check it out before they quote it back. It is an arrogance born of a need to be right.
Many people do not think for themselves anymore and they choose to be followers of stronger personalities. They accept what is fed them and regurgitate it elsewhere without checking its veracity first.
To be right and have power over means never acknowledging you do not know or that you might be wrong. It's how urban myths spread and it's how hate and discrimination is promulgated.
In this case it's taking the most titillating elements of incorrect or incomplete informaton and espousing it as the truth in order to diminish us to an action rather than as people...makes us easier to dislike and attack.
As for your last question...they only know what they want to know and that keeps their lie alive. It's like a debate team that chooses the opposing view and only looks at information available that supports their position and only challenges information that does not support their position. It's an intellectual and not emotional response.
I haven't met many hetrosexuals who said they wanted to sit down and discuss orientation sexuality so they could understand it and not just to exploit the sex part. I have met some, though, who think they know and use that as their "power" approval to condemn.

Because you asked about a normal human biological impulse and just coz you're homosexual doesn't mean you're any different from anyone else when it comes to biological impulses. It just means the object of your impulses is not the same as a hetero person's.

Can I just point out though that with some notable exceptions and generally speaking male and female drives are different. I can quite happily choose not to have sex and could go for months without it and not miss it, but I'm female. Men on the other hand are different and don't seem to be able to go more than a few days without missing it.

I know the bible bashers think it's a choice whether you follow your appetites (whether that be sex, hunger, thirst, whatever)and whilst to a point it is, it takes an extremely strong person to be able to ignore them or even control them for any length of time, I don't see the obese coming in for as much stick as gay men and women do, and isn't that just giving in to temptation over and above the norm?

The fact of the matter is that far too many people are quick to judge others. And yet if they looked at themselves there'd be so much there to keep them busy they wouldn't have time to criticise other people.

Just as homosexuality isn't a choice neither are biological impulses. It's natures way of ensuring we feed ourselves and continue the gene pool.

It's not all heterosexual people who feel that way. It's the crazy religious ones who think they know so much about GLBT people and how we should live our life. That is because they THINK that the book they read (you told me not to use that word so I wont) says it is so wrong to be gay that being gay is worse in the eyes of their higher power ; ) than their own personal sin of judging everyone. It is the basis of their beleif system to fear that which they do not know or understand and teach others that such things are of the devil so others will fear it as well.

I don't! Let's not generalize people!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's just the types of individuals the question seems to attract. I just have a live and let live as we are individually created approach to it! I have friends who are lesbian and a cousin who is gay. I take it one person at a time! I choose my friends by the quality of their consciousness and the goodness of their hearts! My cousin is one of the kindest and wisest men I have ever known.

Choosing to have sex or not have sex is something that is apart from 'most' persons natural sexuality. How and why may be culturally influenced or for a myriad of other reasons not always negative. Celabicy is not always a negative as one example!

We generally get a narrower view here because it is R&S and the issues connected to demonizing same sex relationships are prevelent here.

Mind you...I personally draw the line at pedofiles and that harmful ilk, but whose to say how that comes about really. Cause and effect! Not all sexually related acts are healthy conditions of the human individual. Rates of child prostitution and slavery related to sexual agression and abuse are good examples of devolution. Abhorant! These are not nescessarily same sex are they now! I think we should be spending our time talking and acting on these issues rather than same sex politics!

Most people can empathise or relate in some way to one another, but as much as we share some universal connections we experience things as smaller communities and individuals as well. We are amazing arn't we?I think it just makes us family and a very interesting family we are too!

So, to all...be healthy and happy and don't let the bed bugs bite!

Peace!

I don't know, I really wish I knew. Earlier today I asked over in the R&S section why they think they know more about how GLBTs feel than someone who is actually gay or lesbian. I got so many stupid answers, it was insane.
