I am traveling from Frankfurt, Germany to Miltenberg, Germany on Friday by train, will I be able to walk up and get tickets? Should I prebuy tickets? Does it usually fill up, especially if leaving between 7 and 830 in the morning and coming back around 9 at night?

Not necessarily for an exact specific time, but most likely, and definitely for sometime that day. The train system there is excellent and there are multiple trains going to multiple destinations each day, which will frequently be empty or near empty. I would suggest, if you know for sure when you're going, and if it is not inconvenient, to buy the tickets the night before, or earlier in the morning (buy the tickets, and get breakfast). But I have purchase tickets for a train that was leaving in five minutes and walked right on and had a car to myself.

Buying tickets in advance gets you cheaper prices. You can also reserve seats, which is highly recommended if you travel for longer on ICE trains during business hours.
Be aware that Friday afternoon and early evening trains are bursting - everybody wants to go home for the weekend. At 9 pm it should be ok though.

I think you'll be able to buy a ticket in an automat or at the ticket window, but be there 30 mins. in advance to be safe. It looks like most trains change in Aschaffenberg and take about 1.5 hrs. Frequent trains, too, so if you miss one, have a coffee and take the next one.

You don't need to prebuy tickets, but it might save you a lot of hassle on the day. There are ticket machines where you can buy them, or you can buy them at the counter.

I would suggest, though, if you wish to take the train that early in the morning, to reserve a seat for yourself. In that case it would make sense to buy your tickets in advance.
