Unfortunately the huge skyscrapers like canary wharf and the BT tower are not open to the public due to like terrorist threats and that.
You can try the London Eye, that has good views. Or for something completely free, go to the top of Primrose Hill or Hampstead Heath, these are both in North London and very accessible. The views from the tops of the hills is really good, just like being in a building but enjoying the great outdoors.

A building you can go up is the Monument, which is a dedication to the Great Fire of London, its quite tall and has good views. This is located in the City of London near Tower of London and the river, so they are a couple of the views you will get.

You should have asked earlier ... I work at One London Bridge, you could have come up to my office and had a nice view, but it's too late to get on the weekend access list now! :-)

The best view I personally have seen is from the London Eye - yes it's expensive, but it's worth it just once. Also, I happened to be at Westminster Cathedral the other day and saw that they have an observation deck, but I didn't go up so don't know if it was any good (note that Westminster Cathedral is not the same as Westminster Abbey) - I think it cost about £5.

BUT it's supposed to rain all weekend, so if you do find any tall buildings, then you're probably not going to get the best view, and I definitely wouldn't recommend paying too much to get in anywhere.

Afraid there arent any - Tall buildings like the BT tower, Nat West tower etc used to be open to the public but were closed due to IRA terrorism from the 1970s onwards

there arn't any. they don't have viewing decks etc like those in the USA. The closest you will get to getting in the big buildings is shopping in canary wharf and this is just above street level.

why don't you try the london eye you can a really good look from there of London. it's opposite Westminster tube station on the jubilee line (the grey one)

What about the London Eye? I know it's not a building but it gives you a good view of the city if that's what you're after.

pass to the London Eye. that could supply you a stable view of the city's homes then you definitely can head over there. you may take some pictures from the attention, yet i've got have not had stable success taking pictures with the aid of glass.
