Not sure how far along I might be, considering I don't menstruate. Please has anyone had this happen, and if so did you carry to full term?

I did have 2 positive pregnancy tests (hpt) and also confirmed by my doctor. I ovulate, I just don't menstruate. So I don't even have a clue on how far along I may be. So when I went for my ultrasound today my doctor was not able to find the baby. I have had no bleeding or pain, just regular pregnancy symptoms ( nausea, tender breasts, fatigue) Has this happened to anyone? If so how far along were you when they found the baby? Did you carry to full-term? Also, doctor said my lining is very thick, so she confirmed that I am pregnant that way as well. I'm scared and need some insight. Thank You!!

Thank you for all your input! I went back to doctor today and did another ultrasound and she found the sac in my uterus. I am only 5 weeks. She will see me again for another ultrasound next Wed. just to make sure everything is going as expected.

That is certainly weird that you do not menstruate and have had one baby. Usually miniaturization is tied into Ovulation. The two run hand in hand. Can' have one with the other etc etc etc

On the sonogram if you can't see the baby, it is ether to small yet to be seen or your getting a false postive

If you went for the scan before you are 7-8wks it's quite possible nothing would show up on the U/S except MAYBE a yolk sac....if you are REALLY early that might not even show. What you should do, is wait til you know you should be at least 8wks(you can use 7wks after you got the positive test if you don't get periods) then go for another ultrasound. It should tell you all you need to know. Don't let a Dr talk you into a Dand C before then. It could all be in the timing. Another thing that can cause positive HPTs but no baby are menopause(which you could be a candidate for with no periods) or ovarian cancer. I hope your dr has talked to you about the possibilities and risk factors associated with these things. Good luck. I'll keep you in my prayers!

This happened to me. Unfortunately for me, it ended in miscarriage, but that might not be the case for you, so I don't want to scare you even though I'm sure you're a bit worried. I went for my ultrasound at what they thought was 7 weeks. They didn't see anything but a sac and the placenta. They had me come back one week later because I might not have been as far along as they thought I was. On the second ultrasound they didn't see anything which meant it wasn't a viable pregnancy. They can start to see what they need to see at about 6 1/2 weeks--a yolk sac and possibly a heartbeat. I'd make another appointment for another ultrasound and see how you're developing. If you're under 6 weeks, which I hope you are, they won't be able to see anything. Good luck!

Have you ever heard of a phantom pregnancy........it's where the mother gets 'pregnant' and goes through all the symptoms goes 9 months and even gives birth, but there is no baby....I have read something about this in a psychology magazine, it has something to do with a chemical imbalance in the body. maybe this is what you are experiencing. It normally happens to women that want a child more than anything, and their mind plays a trick to make you think your pregnant.

I dont know if you have ever heard of it, but I have always heard of guys having sympathy pains when the mother goes into labor...well the correct term for it is phantom pregnancy, so it is not just a female thing!!

How far along are you? I went for my first ultrasound when I was around 7 weeks and I could see the baby (head and body). There should be a sac atleast!

If you don't get your period how do you have kids? You have to ovulate to release an egg and when you ovulate the egg passes lives for a short while if not fertilized than dies. The egg and the lining of the uterus has to be expelled some how.

I'm not sure how far along you would be. I think you should ask your dr. about this. But I did have that happen to me where they could not find the baby right away, and it just turned out that I was earlier in the pregnancy than they thought origionally. I hope all is well with you.
Good luck and God Bless
