If you are over age 10, this is embarassing. He made 7/8ths of his shots. 8 goes into 24 3 times, so he missed 3 and made 21.

When taking into account all shots you should have a fraction of 1/1.
We know that martin missed 1/8 of all his shots. Therefore to find out the fraction of how many he made we do.
1/1-1/8=? This might be easier to solve if we look at it like this
8/8-1/8=7/8. Since 8/8 is 1 and so is 1/1 we can make the equation look like this.
To find out how many shots he missed you know he missed 1 shot for every 8 shots taken therefore we can divided 24 by 8 to find that he missed 3 shots. If he missed 3 shots that means he must have made 24-3=21 shots.

since he missed 1/8th
8/8 - 1/8 = 7/8ths
1/8 x 24 = 3 missed shots
7/8 x 24 = 21 made shots

1/8th of 24 = 3 (3x8=24)
so he made 7/8 of his shots = 21 & missed 3 (total 24)
As the 1st answerer says - I hope you're under 11 years old.

Take 24 and divide by 8. He shot pretty good. I think the Cavs will be looking at him in the draft.

It seems that the people who answered your math question by explaining how they worked out the problem answered the problem quite well, that way you will be able to figure out the next one on your own much easier. The people who felt it necessaery to make insulting comments should learn to show a little respect. People who time to ask questions are doing so to learn something; to me that shows determination. The more questions you ask, the more you learn and the more intellegent you are!!! KEEP ASKING!!!
