429 super cobra jet,66 ford cobra some people argue the 66 427 corvette,i had a 1969 429 original 1 of 11 holmen/moody 1969 mercury cyclone ford drag car never sold to the public, faster than these 2 cars, and the gt mustang.you thought u were in a rocket ship, the g force at launch would litterlly make your heart pounce.4 speed, every shift would scorch the earth with rubber,a second pass meant stoping to wipe the condensation from your bottom.i sold it 20 years ago and probably worth 1/2 million at barret jackson.good question i give you 5 stars.happy trails

In 1967 Caroll Shelby modified two 427 Cobras into Super Snakes. They were capable of 1 to 100 and back to 0 in 13 seconds with street tires. 1 of these cars was his and the second went to Bill Cosby. The Cosby car was destroyed in a fire. These cars had the 427 Ford engines with 2 Paxton belt driven superchargers and 2 4 bbl. carbs. The tranny was a manually shifted 4 speed automatic.

Probably the 427 Shelby Cobras. Big engine in a small car. Helluva power to weight ratio.

429 cobra jet Mustang and the big block Vette, in the 60's the limiting factor was tire grip so in terms of acceleration any car which was slightly lighter than others had an advantage.

We could argue about this all night but for my money the HemiCuda was the fastest US production car ever. I owned the next best thing to it with my 67 GTX Hemi.
