As Abs stated, the war in Iraq is illegal, and therefore any actions committed in Iraq are therefore crimes.

The war is illegal as it (a) violates the UN charter of violating the independent territory of another country, (b) was not sanctioned by the UN, despite the UN resolutions about sanctions etc. (c) the Iraqi government did not pose a threat to the US or any other country with the limited weapons at its disposal.

So technically, yes, there are US war crimes in Iraq.

Individual soldiers can carry out war crimes, but it is usually the leaders and senior military personnel who are tried.

Unfortunately, it is part of US law that No US citizen, civilian or military, can be prosecuted for"War Crimes" or "Crimes against Humanity" in the International Court of Justice or by the International War Crimes Tribunal. The law states that US citizens can only be tried within the US.

Personally, I feel that G.W. Bush and his government should be brought up on "War Crimes", but I cannot see any court in the US doing so.

All fiction is based on some fact. Watch every war movie ever made. Any lives lost during a war is considered "Collateral Damage". Sad.
