His drawings and writings about warfare and the human body. He was ahead of his time. He had the first concept of the tank and helicopter. His drawings of the human body are still looked at today by medical students. He was a man for the ages.

Most people would say the Mona Lisa because it is the world's most famous painting, or his inventions like the helicopter long before such technology was available, but I think his most significant accomplishment was his ability to get funding for his creative projects like painting The Last Supper by offering his technical abilities as a civil engineer and military architect to royals and the pope. By crafting amazing bridges and monuments to bring glory to the royals who had the cash, he had the freedom to create beautiful art for himself (and ultimately for us).

The Mona Lisa,because the painting is shrouded in a bit of a mystery. No one really knows who she was. There has even been speculation that he used some of his own facial characteristics to create this wonderful painting.
