But that the choice was about being homosexual and choosing to have sex. (This kinda of reiterates the 'love the sinner not the sin' theory.) But do you think that having sex is that much of a choice? To me it is a natual occurrence.
I no more think that sex is about choice than eating, drinking, sleeping or urinating...They are all simple biological functions and drives. To me telling me not to have sex is telling me to think about anything except an elephant.(of course everyone imagines an elephant at this point).
And BTW how many straight people ever give up sex because 'it is wrong'--that they are unmarried and the bible says that it is wrong? I concede maybe a few nuns and,( well, priests have certainly shown what an artificial environment can do to people) might have--but they hardly lead normal lives.
... Anyone agree? or disagree?

Sexuality is a biological given, and homosexual 'behavior', while not a choice, is the natural extension of being homosexual -- This idea comes from idiots, who suggest that homosexuals should suppress their sexuality -- these idiots should immediately stop even suggesting they support freedom, as they simply don't know the meaning of the word.

The powers of bigotry want to inflict their warped view of the world on the rest of us.

The choice to act on homosexuality is hardly as black and white as sex or no sex, and I doubt that was the intention.
We cannot invalidate those who choose to stay in the closet for whatever reasons, but even staying in the closet does not mean the person is not having sex. But it may mean that. There are still people who get married and have kids and only they know they are Gay. We cannot invalidate their choice either. It is their life to deal with.
Acting on homosexuality also means whether you choose to get involved with the open Gay scene and go to bars and clubs. It means whether you tell your family and boss and friends. It's about your comfort zone.
The original question I think was about homosexuality being a choice? It's not. I don't think the answer was promote the "love the sinner, not the sin" idea, but to raise the level of discussion past the hate-mongers.

Why ask non secular people? i'm confident that for many folk, homosexuality isn't considered as a call. examine on comparable (monozygotic) twins raised one by one teach an particularly low concurrence of homosexuality. this suggests that the place they are genetically comparable and gestated interior the comparable womb under the comparable situations, are born, then raised in separate properties, twins are purely approximately never the two gay. That seems to show for sure that homosexuality isn't due strictly to organic and organic or in utero situations. as a consequence "born this variety" is a myth. a lot greater possibly, homosexuality is by using psychological factors, or a mix of organic and organic and psychological factors. Sexual examine seems to help this actuality; an inordinate volume of homosexuals checklist having been the victims of sexual abuse as toddlers. Even Kinsey's examine got here across better than a million/2 had this adventure. better examine has borne this out. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, there ARE certainly people for whom homosexuality is a call. pattern any penal complex inhabitants, and you will discover existence-long heterosexuals who've grew to become to homosexuality. as quickly as released, those people oftentimes return to heterosexuality. Homosexuality can certainly be chosen.

yes I realized that myself. Allthough it is not a choice to be gay it is a choice to act out on it (unless you are raped or something).
However what's the big deal what 2 consenting people do in private shouldn't matter to anyone else. If straigth couples can screw around so can we.
I personally don't beileve homosexuality is a sin either. People just misunderstood the bible and tell others that it is and before you know it 85% of christians hate us.

*sigh*

*yawn*

I am now officially tired of the questions regarding the origins of homosexuality.

*YAAAWN*

The basis of the new questions such as you have stated here lies in the modern angst of fundamentaliest religious persons who are using every last thread to hold onto something in the Bible that might be true. If the Bible once more is shown to be faulty, then they have even less to base their faith on.

The first wide-spread attack on the truth of that book and their faith came with the discovery of dinosaurs. Since they're not in the book's creation story, then where did they come from. There have been other attacks, and now there's the modern notion that homosexuality is not immoral.

It's another nail in the coffin of religious fundamentalism.

i hear what you are saying, but I do disagree. Sex is an action....a behavior. We do ultimately have control over our actions and behaviors.

What irks me is how people will only think of being gay in terms of "the act". I've always said, you could lock me up in a room all by myself for the rest of my life, and I never see another person again....guess what....I'd still be gay.

Being gay is much more deeper than "the act". "The act" is just a by-product of being gay.

Since we know that God makes people LGBT or straight [which is not a "choice" or changeable], it would be very ungrateful of me to ignore the gift of sexuality that God gave me along with it.

Evidently some bigots feel that only the "right" kind of sex should be expressed, i.e. missionary, I guess.

Who would defame any of God's children just for being who they are, to denigrate any of God's gifts to them? Certainly not anyone who is a true Christian.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin" is the biggest lie that such hatemongers say to themselves. They obviously hate both.

I agree.
Whether or not one chooses to have sex is a personal choice BUT, to remain celibate simply because someone else told you it was a sin is simply stupid, especially when they don't go chasing others of different orientations to constantly harangue them about "sinning".
I might have just a smidgen more respect for those who harass us in here if I ever looked back at their questions and had seen even one of them going over to the singles and dating area to lecture them about "sin" and sex outside of marriage. As it stands, considering they DON'T do that, I simply log them down as another homophobe for the block list, report the harassment, and move on.

Even worse are those who continue to use the sex for reproduction argument. When they themselves limit their sexual activities with their wives to strictly reproductive purposes then and only then do they have any room to say something to someone else about sex. Attempting to insinuate that they are not subject to that "rule", especially if they use birth control, makes them a hypocrite and worthy of absolutely no attention at all.

How very timely, and I agree 100% with you. Guess what? In today's online version of The Advocate, there is a story about how Southern Baptists are now re-thinking their beliefs about why people are gay. (I love the part about how one of the ex-gay therapists left the ministry because he is in love with another man.)

Sex was given to animals and humans to reproduce, which is why we are on this planet. The reason it was made to feel good is so we are encouraged to do it, and have babies. I honestly believe most homosexuals are born that way, though I also believe that very few people are completely heterosexual or completely homosexual. Even though homosexuals are not attracted to the other sex, therefore making 'reproduction' unimportant to them, they are still human, and have human desires for sex.

For example, in prisons a lot of 'straight' guys end up doing homosexual acts. I think it's just because they need to release animal desires.
