He got pulled over going 68 in 65. This is his secound no proof of insurance in the last couple Months. The officer also notified my friend that his license was revoked. My friend never received any letter explaining that he did not have a valid MN license. Plus they impounded his truck and work tools until he can provide insurance on the truck. He has to drive usualy far for his job, and now he won't be able to work. He's got 3 young kids and home to support. Should he go on wellfare or what? Or does he have any other options? Your input could be very helpful. Thanks.

it is not possible to live any kind of life on welfare, you are so far under the poverty level it's unbelievable. Your friend would be better of working fast food, I don't mean that in a bad way, but any job will give you a better quality of life than welfare. At least with a low paying job he may qualify foor food stamps and medical care for his children, this would free up a little of his income for rent.
There are a lot of people out there barely making it with low paying jobs, but they are making it. Never give up!!

First of all....Just because the TRUCK is impounded, doesn't mean that he can't request/make arrangemnts to get his TOOLS or other items out of it. What if his house keys were in there?- Would they say "NO YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM"- No... They wouldn't! Even people in jail are allowed to make arrangemts for their possisions to be released to someone.

About the welfare part- Sorry, but Welfare has strict policys now. People are no longer allowed to sit at home and collect a "free check" anymore- People nowdays don't realize this, because of how the system used to work many years ago.
Also- Many states no longer offer much "cash" assistance. Food Stamps- YES, but there are still very strict policies that you must cooperate with and adhere to in order to receive them.

Best option is exactly what others are saying.

He could just find another job closer to home or take the bus!!! How is it that even though he got himself into trouble by not having insurance and a suspended license that you feel he has a right to welfare! I'm not paying for his kids. Welfare was designed to help people who needed help not idiots who drive with suspended licenses with no insurance when you have 3 kids to support! Has he even tried to find another job closer to home? There is a walgreens on practically every corner and they are hiring!

The easiest answer would be for him to get a valid license and insurance for his truck.

Yes he has options -he can get the insurance. If he cant get it in his name maybe his parents could insure it so he can get his tools. He can hire a worker to drive so he can still work.

Does he have insurance? If so simply prove it. If not, get a new job and a bicycle.
