Because the white house came up with the phrase to make up yet a new reason for the invasion of Iraq.

People distrust the "war on terror" because the Bush administration has repeatedly lied about the motivation for invading Iraq. They said they wanted to find nuclear bombs and that they had proof that Iraq was producing them, all the while anyone with any sense or scepticism knew in their gut that Bush was lying. Before the invasion had even begun there were insider reports from government officials and military personnel stating that there was no proof of WMD's, that Iraq was economically crippled, had no means to make WMD's and that they were not a threat. So why was Bush so insistent? Oil of course, the whole bloody war has only one purpose, that is to steal as much oil as possible. People are dying to make the already ludicrously rich even richer. The whole war is a greed fuelled sham.

Isn't it strange that after the debacle of the 2000 election, and his inept abillity to run this country! And then oh whats this? An attack on US soil! And lo and behold, Bush is now a hero, and the leader on the war against terrorism! And he is just as busy changing the constitution to take away our rights! Racial profiling is at an all time high! Been to the airport lately? So his war on terror is a big joke! There has not been one follow up attack on our soil, and there will not be one unless Bush organizes another one!

First point, the incident involving the twin towers was retaliation for the American interference in the Middle East over a period of many years.
The man behind it Bin Laden was from Saudi Arabian not Iraq, the London bombing was again a retaliation for Britain's illegal war involvement in Iraq.
We the indigenous inhabitants of Britain are now paying the penalty for the incompetent act of Tony Blair and others who backed him in that war.
That is why so many people don't trust or believe "the war on terror".

Because not one of the terrorists guilty of attacking America has been found or killed in this war.
The people fighting now in Iraq are people that have rallied to the cause to attack the invading army.

that is not a war, it's an invasion.

The talibans (however bad they were) did not attack the USA.
Saddam (however bad he was) did not attack the USA.

The war on terror has done nothing to make the world safer, it has just increased the casualty rate.

Whether or not it is a good idea, it has not helped stop terrorism, so can be defined as a failure for everyone concerned, except the arms manufacturers and the rebuilding companies. That is, the Carlyle group and Halliburton.

Who runs and owns these companies?
Members and collegues of the Bush Administration.

Logically, there are many people who do not trust this war.

Let's look at the timing. Bush started the "war on terror" right after 9-11. Right after 9-11, the United States was plummeted into a major recession. In order to avoid the disaster of another depression, Bush followed the example of Roosevelt and pushed our country into war. The problem is: Roosevelt didn't actually plan for the war. In fact, Roosevelt was opposed to joining WWII until Pearl Harbor. In addition, there are several allegations that Bush started the war for his own personal agenda. However, the "war on terror" did push the United States out of a recession. It also gave Bush, and every future president, major flexibility to push their agenda, since the "war on terror" is so vague and there will always be terror in some part of the world.

In other words: "War on Terror" is far too vague and it was started for insincere reasons.

I don't see how you can declare a war on a concept. Terror is not another nation state - how would you invade it, for example? It's just a phrase thought up by a spin doctor to terrify everyone so that they vote the same governments back into power because they believe Bush and Blair protect them better - and it's a load of rubbish.

It is a made up war to suit the USA and UK in their pursuit for oil. Even at this stage why cant the US and UK sit down and talk to these terrorists something like what happened with the IRA in NI .this approach considerably reduced most of the tension in Northern Ireland. I suppose the power of oil will not allow this to happen in Iraq

Because it is not a war on terror but a war for oil & against Muslims.

Because the majority of people don't trust George Bush & since this "war" started on his whim it follows that they are unhappy.

Because it's not a "war on terror". It's a war for oil and opium. Also let us not forget that the USA sponsored the mujahedin terrorists in Afghanistan and the contra terrorists in Nicaragua. The present Bush administation plotted to overthrow the democratically elected governments of Haiti (successfully) and Venzuela (unsuccessfully).
