Depends from where, if from one of the traditional Islamic schools then in that case it will only help you see the massive amount of blunders propagated by them and passed as Islamic teachings. Unless of course you get sucked into their sophistry and become a Mullah. If on the other hand from one of the Western Universities then you are in danger of getting a totally warped orientalist view. If you can find a University that focus on the Quran and treat all the secondary sources for what they are, historical records then you will be in a position to spread the true Islam as intended by the revelation of Quran. Ironically you will be able to do that in a non Islamic country.
