Well, if a long-time politician running for a higher office isn't rich, then I would consider him (or her) to either be unnaturally honest and upright (not likely) or to be thoroughly incompetent (much more likely). LOL!
Sad, isn't it, how much corruption we now expect from a politician? Our expectations have been lowered a great deal.

Of course it is possible to run for office without being rich. However, it is easier to WIN if you have the money necessary for the printing, radio and TV advertising, billboards, transportation, etc., costs that you might incur to get elected.

no, you can start out poor (some have) but you better find someone with money to support you. the ones who start off with money have a greater shot of being elected, they actually have double money since they have their own and can recieve money from supporters
