The American public does not believe in Libertarianism.
They want to continue the war on drugs.
They like no knock warrants against drug dealers.
They like the FDA
They like the EPA
They like campaign finance restrictions against free speech.
They like homeland security.
The like the patriot act with indefinite prison for enemy combatants and warranties wiretaps.
They want a Real ID.
They like subsidies for farmers.
They like protectionism for American industry.
They like welfare/handouts.
They like social security.
They like the public school system.
They want restrictions on gun ownership.
When something is wrong, the first thing out of their mouths is "there ought to be a law"
Why would they vote Libertarian?

There are alot of people that say they would vote Libertarian except for one or all of the following reasons:
1) "It's a waste of a vote because no one else will vote for them"
2) They don't agree with their stance on drugs - which really isn't a stance for or against. It's more of a stance to not let the government take a stance...alot of people don't get that...
3) They are afraid that if they vote Libertarian then that will take votes away from the ______ party and then the ______ party will win. (You can swap Dep. and Rep. in these gaps).

Everyone seems to have the mindset that it has to be a democrat or republican, a vote for any 3rd party candidate would be a wasted vote.
I think it's a shame that the vast majority of voters are stuck in this mindset. I suppose just another example of the mighty political machine at work.

Because Libertarians are fiscal Republicans. No public education, no Social Security, no minimum wage, etc. They also represent the Elite. They don't even bother pandering to voters, or hiding their money-grubbing ways. At least they're honest about it.

Because they do not sell themselves well enough. Either that, or they do sell themselves quite well, and nobody wants to buy. So either they stink or their issues stink.
