to me it's selfish act. It's obviously lustful, and you focus on idolizing someone. Don't people know to do that is to defile God's temple? It seems like even some Christians seem to want to deny it being wrong so they can continue. Sin is natural, but it's not right to sin.

it's not a nesscary or a nesscity. i have self control and have no need to do it. it's also not bad if you don't do it. people do it just because they want to. if you don't do it you will just have noctural emission. so really people are just doing it because it gives them temporary satisfaction.

God views all sins equally. He hates all sin. And yes we are the temple of God. Our bodies are his temple.

It is natural and OK. Animals in the wild masturbate. It's a part of being an animal on this planet. And whether you like it or not, humans are animals. It's not necessarily "lusty". It's a physical release....providing relaxation and a way to relieve stress. Hormones are released during orgasm that are good for the body....mentally and physically. Do some research before you start spewing hateful comments like this. God did not give you the gift of life so that you could judge others.

People say that, mostly because they want to do it and/or they don't want to stop. But I'm actually not sure if it is a sin or not. The Bible does not address it in of itself. The Bible does say lust is a sin, and that's usually associated with it. Some people say they can without lust, but I honestly don't know about that one way or the other.

I do know that one can live without it. I also know that it's not ok to lust.

Does that help any?

To the contrary, to not masturbate is a grave and injurious sin against gods holy gift of the sacred body to humanity. Don't YOU realize that you are going to go burn in a wretched tormentous hell for all eternity and then some for not masturbating!!!
Sorry, couldn't resist that.
Get a life will ya? Geesh.

Masturbation is normal and is okay. How is it that you are defiling God's Temple? If this is the case then wouldn't sex be defiling his temple also? Is it not defiling Gods temple by getting tatoos, piercing etc. Is it not a bigger sin to cheat on your spouse because he/she is not fulfilling your needs. Which would God frown on more you having an affair or you self satisfing your self. Read the articles below and maybe then you will enlightened on masturbation the benifits (medically) and see that it is natural. Oh, one more thing if we are all made in Gods image and we masturbate does this mean that God masturbated?

Masturbation is the self-stimulation of the genitals to achieve sexual arousal and pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm (sexual climax). It is commonly done by touching, stroking or massaging the penis or clitoris until an orgasm is achieved. Some women also use stimulation of the vagina to masturbate or use "sex toys," such as a vibrator.

Who Masturbates?
Just about everybody. Masturbation is a very common behavior, even among people who have sexual relations with a partner. In one national study, 95% of males and 89% of females reported that they have masturbated. Masturbation is the first sexual act experienced by most males and females. In young children, masturbation is a normal part of the growing child's exploration of his or her body. Most people continue to masturbate in adulthood, and many do so throughout their lives.

Why Do People Masturbate?
In addition to feeling good, masturbation is a good way of relieving the sexual tension that can build up over time, especially for people without partners or whose partners are not willing or available for sex. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative for people who wish to avoid pregnancy and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. It also is necessary when a man must give a semen sample for infertility testing or for sperm donation. When sexual dysfunction is present in an adult, masturbation may be prescribed by a sex therapist to allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men).

Is Masturbation Normal?
While it once was regarded as a perversion and a sign of a mental problem, masturbation now is regarded as a normal, healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. It is a good way to experience sexual pleasure and can be done throughout life.

Masturbation is only considered a problem when it inhibits sexual activity with a partner, is done in public, or causes significant distress to the person. It may cause distress if it is done compulsively and/or interferes with daily life and activities.

Is Masturbation Harmful?
In general, the medical community considers masturbation to be a natural and harmless expression of sexuality for both men and women. It does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body, and can be performed in moderation throughout a person's lifetime as a part of normal sexual behavior. Some cultures and religions oppose the use of masturbation or even label it as sinful. This can lead to guilt or shame about the behavior.

Some experts suggest that masturbation can actually improve sexual health and relationships. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you and can share this with your partner. Some partners use mutual masturbation to discover techniques for a more satisfying sexual relationship and to add to their mutual intimacy.

An Internet survey (3) asked the following question about masturbation:
"Not counting your childhood, what is the most number of days you've gone without masturbating?"

4 or less days
27.6%
5 or 6 days
22.7%
7 to 30 days
41.7%
more than 30 days
8.0%
The results may be slanted by the background of the people answering a survey of this type, but as you can see, the trend is that half the males could not go longer than a week and less than 8% could go without masturbating for more than a month!

The need to periodically release semen is so strong, especially in a young male, that the urge to masturbate is nearly unavoidable. Even if you are able to stop masturbating for a while (like a week), your body may respond by releasing semen at night in a nocturnal emission (or "wet dream") (3)

The biological reason you can't stop masturbating for a long time is that the sexual pressure continues to build within you because of the hormone called testosterone in your blood. The sexual pressure continues to build (whether you want it to or not) until you ejaculate your semen by some method. Most likely we guys are designed this way to ensure the human race continues to multiply!

The best advice seems to be that if find the need to masturbate, then to accept it as a normal part of your being

Maybe because it is natural. Small children masturbate. Heathens masturbate. And, (Gasp) so does everyone else. Besides, one would think that unmarried Christians should be taught to masturbate. That way they would not have to sin with each other, but can achieve release of tensions all on their own.

We are human beings first and foremost, born with innate sexuality and self gratification is not wrong it is natural to the species. We are not the only species that does so.

What I find immoral is those that take natural states of being and frighten people into thinking that they are sinning when they are just doing what comes naturally.

Unless there are other people in the room, you're not hurting anyone.

Besides, its a good way to become more familiar with your body, which is essential to overall sexual health and early detection.

If you don't love yourself, how can you love others?

i have to admit something...this has been very hard for me. i masturbate a lot, i'm a very sexual person. i rather do that then be promescuous but i'm not saying that what i'm doing is right. i dont know if it's selfish or not but yea i found out it is sinful. i try my best not to do it at all, but sometimes....i dont have to explain that part. i wouldnt suggest anyone to do it, but i rather you do that then go sleep around. it also depends on someone's libido, mine is ewual to a nympho so i take cold showers all the time...it's hard but yes you can stop.

I think it's a great stress release and it is natural. People have needs and masturbation helps them meet those needs. If I'm hungry, I eat a sandwich. If I'm thirsty, I drink water. If I'm tired, I rest. If I have that special need, I get alone time.
