Investigatoe (below) iraq was Iran's mortal enemy and military counter balance in the region. Now Iran is free to flex their muscle throughout the region.

Iran is working with Bush on stabilizing much of Iraq but this attack next door has made the hardliners fearful of a US regime change policy and this could partly explain why they seem emboldened to counterbalance the existing assymetrical relationship. The Bush Doctrine has worked disastrously in this region and up until now with testimonies from Professor Ray Takeyh, there is a large insistence for the US to work in a collaborative effort with Iran in a mutual agreement for regional security
