Don't gamble with "scared money" (money you can't afford to lose) otherwise you'll be sweating it too much and you wont enjoy yourself as much. You can find cheap eats off the strip. There's a place called Ellis Island that serves barbecue plates enough to feed 2-3 people for about $5 and you can purchase beer there for $1. Where else can you get beer that cheap without having to gamble. Downtown vegas also has cheap eats, but dont get me wrong, all these cheap eats are fabulous!!! Catch all the free shows on the strip such as fountain show at Bellagio, the Pirate show at TI, the volcano show at Mirage. If you are going to gamble, do it in the wee to early morning, like before 7, because thats when table games are at a $5 minimum.
Also, there aren't a lot of people of think of bowling when it comes to vegas, but you can go to the orleans and they have bowling alley with 60+ lanes and its open 24hrs. Its a fun thing to do and it also pulls you away from wanting to gamble and drink for the mean time.
From Bally's to i think MGM, they have moving walk ways that connect to each hotel if you can find them.
If you gamble, tip the dealers as much as possible, but dont do it if you're losing money or youre "down". By tipping dealers, you may get lucky and have them in your favor. Lets say in craps, you tip the dealers every so often, then they'll learn your style of play and ask you about your bets if you forget to change/ switch #'s, if you want to add more or what no. Not to mention that occassionaly they will "accidently" over pay you and when they do, do not correct them! But I've only noticed this happen when i play craps and tip a lot, but not at any other games yet.
Well im full of tips, so let me know if you need more

Here are my must Do's for Vegas:
1) Watch at least one night show of the Bellagio fountains
2) Gamble a little, it's Vegas.
3) Watch a show (I highly recommend any Cirque Du Solei show, especially "O", Ka, or Mystere)
4) Eat at a nice restaurant (Mon Ami Gabi is one of my new favorites..and if you sit outside you face the Bellagio fountains..that's killing two birds with one stone).
5) Drink a lot and stay up late at night, relax and sleep in during the day.
6) tour as many casinos as you can and take lots of pictures.
7) ride the rollercoast at NY-NY
8) Eat at a buffet

Have a set amount per day of money you want to gamble with. As soon as you lose that amount, STOP.
Get a Player's Card in the casino you stay at. Use it every time, that way you can gain the comps. It's also the only other way a "nobody" can be tracked for gaining credits towards comps.
Don't be afraid to ask for a comp if you spend over $100. "Hi! I've been gambling all day, could I possibly get a buffet comp?" Also, they comp you free drinks as long as you gamble, even on the slots.

bring alot of money. because everything will cost you a ton!! You can have alot of fun, but its not like it used to be here. Not only do they get you gambling, but the restaurants cost alot, shows are expensive, and rooms can be outregeous at times..
